Professor Renato Cruz de Castro PH D is a senior professor in the International Studies  Department of the De La Salle University, Taft  Avenue, Manila.    He is a  holder of the Charles Lui Chi Keung Professional Chair in China  Studies and a  U S State Department  ASEAN Research Fellow.  In 2009, he was  with the Political Science Department of the Arizona State University.   He earned his doctorate degree   from the Government and International Studies Department  of the University of South Carolina as a Fulbright Scholar in 2011.   He obtained his  Bachelor in  Arts degree  and two (2) Masters degrees from the University of the Philippines . Dr. Raymundo D Rovillos is currently the Dean, College of Social Sciences and a Professor of History and Philosophy at the University of the Philippines-Baguio. He is an expert in Philippine History, Cordillera History; Society and Culture; Ethnicity/Indigenous Peoples’ Studies; Gender Studies; and Social Development. 

As a Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Dr. Rovillos lead the formative review of the Master of Arts in Social and Development Studies Program; steered and contributed to the institution of the Bachelor Science in Management Economics and proposed to revise the Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences respectively; and initiated the establishment of the UP Baguio Cordillera and Northern Luzon. Historical archives in 2008 and continues to mobilize resources for its development.

 BGEN FERMIN R DE LEON JR AFP (RET) finished his primary education from St Theresa's College in Baguio City and  his elementary and secondary, from San Beda College in Manila.  He studied here and abroad, where he earned  his Bachelor of Science  from the Philippine Military Academy  in 1977; Master of Arts in Philosophy from St Louis Univeristy, Baguio City; and Master in National Security Admnistration from the National Defense College of the Philippines, including defense-related courses in Germany,  the United States and the United Kingdom.

AFP CMO NCO Course Cl 05-11 Conducts Command Post Exercises

    alt  The CMO NCO Course Class 05-11 which is composed of thirty five (35) Enlisted Personnel from the Major Service Commands of the Armed Forces of the Philippines  and three (3) Uniformed Personnel from the Philippine National Police  is presently conducting the weeklong Command Post Exercise or CPX  at the  grounds of the AFP Civil-Military  Operations School, CRSAFP inside Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. 

     The activity   started on  21 0800H September 2011 under the close supervision  of the School Training Staff and will run until 27 September 2011.  This is part of the module in the   Program of Instruction of the   course which is conducted to determine how the  students   fare in  imbibing and understanding the various lessons given in their  classroom instructions or lectures,  through the actual application of  pre-deployment  Cvil-Military Operations  activities following  the parameters and standards of the  AFP CMO Doctrine, once they are directed to  conduct  real-life scenarios in their  respectuive units.

6 Applicants for Female Candidate Soldiers Given Training on Public Speaking

The AFP CMO School, Civil Relations Service, AFP under the leadership of BGEN EDUARDO D DEL ROSARIO AFP   held one day of  training activity on public speaking to the six (6)  candidate soldiers to the Women's Auxillary Corps  (WAC)  of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on 25 August 2011.   The applicants were college graduates  with degrees  in education and  mass communication. 

    SSg Anthony A Corpuz PA, one of the  Training NCOs of the School subjected the applicants  to a half-day  of  lectures  first,  on the  "Fundamentals of Civil-Military Operations"  and  then, on  the different  types  of speech, namely: impromptu, persuasive and informative speeches.  In the afternoon, the applicants  were given  practical examinations  wherein each one  did  impromptu , persuasive and informative speaking before  MAJ OLIVER A BAÑARIA PAF,  the Commandant of the AFP CMO School.  

      COL LEONORA D POOTEN WAC (GSC), Chief,  Office of the Chief Women's Auxiliary Corps, AFP   who   requested for the conduct of  the practicals received the test ratings on 27 August 2011.   The result of the training was  made the basis  to determine the  skills and knowledge on public speaking of the young ladies  since they are  all projected for assignment in CMO-related training activities  of the Armed Forces.

AFPCMOS, CRSAFP, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City -  A principle in CMO states that " Security is Paramount". Every CMO activity is a well-planned effort to win the populace' support for any military operation. As such,  thirty eight  (38)  students of the  AFP CMO NCO Course Class 05-11   held  their marksmanship training last 10 September 2011.   According to SSg Roberto G Gonzales PA, Training NCO, the activity is a record firing for the students  at the  Department of National Defense Firing Range inside the DND Compound.   Aside from honing the  CMO skills and knowledge of these student-soldiers  in order to become certified CMO Operators,  they are also required to undergo the common module which is part of the Program of Instruction  (POI)  of the course.  The inclusion of the common module and leadership in the training  program  of the AFP CMO NCO Course is to ensure that  the graduates of the AFP CMO School, CRSAFP who are from the three (3) Major Services of the AFP  are officially qualified to avail of the provision under GHQ, AFP Circular Nr 3 dated 02 October 2006 which  states

     alt   The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP LTGEN ANTHONY J ALCANTARA AFP graced the graduation ceremony of the  AFP CMO Officers Correspondence Course  CL 04-11  at the AFP CMO School, CRSAFP in  Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon  City on 24 August 2011. In his speech,  TDCS  extended his sincere felicitations to the  33 officers who hurdled the grueling 4 months of strictly online study utilizing the AFP's IT capabilities, the usage of which he said, augment personnel’s efficiency and effectiveness in support to internal and external operations.  He also emphasized  that CMO  is a vital component for soldiers and  utmost familiarity with C M O is a very crucial ingredient  in the  AFP’s pursuit of peace and security because of the Internal Peace and Security  Plan (IPSP) “BAYANIHAN”. 

        The AFP is now concentrating  its efforts on multi-stakeholder and whole-of-nation approach  by  working and coordinating with the broadest spectrum of the civilian populace such as the non-government organizations, other government agencies, civil society and  even the ordinary people.

   alt  Along this line, he  urged the AFPCMO School to increase the number of courses offered to  allow as many soldiers to undergo schooling in CMO  and  to increase the AFP's  CMO capabilities in its campaign of  keeping the armed groups on the run and of isolating  places away from the clutches of threat groups.
